Garage Doors in WellandportBikes, strollers
and a door that behaves.

Family garages in Wellandport are busy places, with kids ducking under the door and a bike wheel always somewhere near the track. We set the auto-reverse so it trips on a light touch, aim the photo-eyes properly, and make sure the door closes fully every time so the house stays secure behind it. The same crew covers Bismarck, Elcho, Rosedene and St. Anns.

Shop rules

Solid doors for hard-working garages.

  1. Straight talk about the door. If a door has years left, we say so. If it is closer to the end, we say that too, and explain how we can tell.
  2. Respectful, careful work. We treat the garage as part of your home, protecting what is stored there and cleaning up completely afterwards.
  3. Time to decide. Nobody is rushed. You get the information, ask your questions, and we go ahead only when you are ready.
  4. Open 24/7, same fees any hour. Set up a visit

2021 census: what it means at the door

Every square is one home in a hundred.

  • 44 in 100 homes · mixed ages
  • About 44% of homes in West Lincoln were built in 1980 or earlier, according to the 2021 Census.A blend of older and newer homes usually means a blend of expectations too: keeping an original door running as long as sensible, or bringing a builder-grade door up to a quieter standard. Both are worthwhile, and the choice is explained at the door with the options side by side.
  • Single-detached houses make up about 84% of homes in West Lincoln (2021 Census).Family homes with their own garage tend to use it as the everyday entrance, so the door sees many cycles a week and the auto-reverse and photo-eyes matter for children and pets. We test both on every visit and set the force so the door stops on a light touch.

Answers in plain language

Can a tune-up make my noisy door quieter?

Usually, yes, and often dramatically. Most garage door noise comes from dry hinge pins, dry roller bearings and hardware that vibration has loosened, and those three are exactly what a tune-up addresses. Some noise comes from parts that have worn, such as a roller gone out of round or a chain that has stretched, and the technician tells you which sounds were settled by maintenance and which point to a part worth replacing, with a separate quote for that.

Why is the bottom section handled differently from the others?

The bottom section is where the lift cables attach, through the bottom brackets at each end, and those cables are under the full pull of the springs. Before the brackets come off, the springs have to be unwound or unhooked so the cables go slack. The bottom section also carries the seal retainer and astragal that meet the floor. After the new section is in, the springs are re-tensioned and the balance reset.

Why does my slide lock stop short of the hole in the track?

Because the door is not resting where it rested when the lock was fitted. A heaved or settled slab, a loosened track bracket, a flattened bottom seal, packed snow at the threshold or an opener limit set a little high all move the door a few millimetres, and a few millimetres is all it takes. The technician corrects the door's closed position or resets the guide so the bar finds its slot again.

My car is inside the garage; how do you get the door open?

Once the technician is on site, the door is secured and the spring replaced with the door in its closed position, which is how spring work is always done. When the new spring is wound and the door balances, it lifts normally and the vehicle drives out. There is no need to force the door open beforehand; leaving it closed keeps the door square and the job straightforward.
